“donne in viaggio” e nello specifico questa mostra che si chiama “da donna a donna,
immagini” -
mi lascia un po’ addolorata il fatto di dire “donne in viaggio” dal momento che sui giornali di oggi è scritto di maria e marina, due donne argentine di rispettivamente 20 e 21 anni, che sono state trovate uccise su una spiaggia in ecuador avvolte in dei sacchi di plastica: l’unico torto che avevano era che viaggiavano sole -
addirittura c’è il commento, di uno psichiatra (non ricordo di quale paese), che dice “beh ma due donne sole lì se la cercano”: ora, io non so voi, ma io non ho mai sentito di due uomini uccisi in viaggio perché viaggiavano da soli e neanche che se la sono cercata - poi sole non erano, erano in due, e anche il poter viaggiare in giro per il mondo da sola penso sia un diritto visto che il mondo è di tutte e tutti - detto questo, il nostro progetto si chiama appunto “donne in viaggio”.
da che cosa nasce: in realtà l’origine è l’incontro mio con francesca marone che è docente
all’università federico II e tiene questo laboratorio “donne in genere e formazione”; noi ci
siamo incontrate e ci siamo piaciute e ad un certo punto ci siamo dette “vogliamo lavorare
insieme, vogliamo collaborare” e abbiamo pensato a questo progetto -
che cosa abbiamo fatto: abbiamo messo in relazione un gruppo di donne, di giovani donne, di allieve del laboratorio “educazione all’immagine” della professoressa marone e un gruppo di mie allieve del laboratorio di pittura e tecniche performative; abbiamo pensato che magari potessero lavorare insieme e ricercare, quindi scambiare delle cose - a loro volta, loro hanno incontrato alcune donne provenienti da altri paesi che si sono stabilite a napoli, o comunque nel nostro territorio, e che sono esempi di una possibile integrazione. hanno realizzato questi incontri, hanno scambiato, alcuni gruppi di più altri di meno, delle cose e hanno realizzato poi racconti fatti di parole, di fotografie che si sono scattate reciprocamente; c’è stata poi la rielaborazione delle immagini nel laboratorio per cui abbiamo portato nel laboratorio di pittura l’università e abbiamo convinto tutte, persino la professoressa marone di cui ci sono delle fotografie che lo testimoniano -
qual era il senso di questo progetto: evidentemente quello di tentare di stabilire delle
relazioni diverse, relazioni tra me e francesca, relazioni tra le ragazze, relazioni con le donne
che sono venute a vivere qua, anche relazioni tra la realtà dell’accademia e quella
dell’università, tra immagine e parola, tra le donne immigrate e quelle stanziali e tra le donne di napoli -
quello che mi preme molto dire qui è che la qualità di queste relazioni è assolutamente
identica, cioè abbiamo tentato di espungere qualsiasi sospetto o di moda o folcloristico: la
relazione che abbiamo io e francesca è della stessa qualità di quella che hanno le ragazze tra di loro e di quelle che abbiamo avuto con le donne che abbiamo incontrato: è chiaro che con donne che sono portatrici di altre culture ci può essere più interesse o a volte più difficoltà legate alla comunicazione, ma la motivazione che ci ha mosso è esattamente la stessa -
io sono la stessa quando la mattina metto i piedi a terra, telefono alla mia amica, prendo la
metropolitana, vado nel negozio e poi vengo qua a parlare con voi -
questo è il tentativo che noi abbiamo voluto fare e proporre alle nostre istituzioni (istituzioni
che già si parlavano precedentemente), che nel momento in cui la centralità e il nostro
desiderio di restare insieme e di incontrarci in qualche modo accolgono questa diversità
questo tentativo di diversità di relazioni ne restano assolutamente illuminate -
allora il tessere relazioni è pratica politica delle donne: noi pensiamo da sempre che queste
modalità siano le uniche possibili per cambiare il mondo e sicuramente portare felicità nella
nostra vita o più felicità nelle nostre vite -
a questo punto, prima di concludere con i ringraziamenti, desidero che ognuna delle donne in viaggio dica il suo nome e il suo luogo di provenienza in modo da ribadire la loro presenza qua oggi e da farvi conoscere il loro viso -

women on the road
“women on the road” and specifically this exhibition called “from women to women, images” –
it’s quite painful to say “women on the road” since on today’s newspaper we can read of maria and marina, 20 and a 21 years old argentinian women. they were found murdered on a beach in ecuador, wrapped in plastic bags: the only mistake they made was travelling alone –
there’s even a comment made by a psychiatrist (I don’t remember where from) who says “well, two women alone there, they’re asking for it”: now, I don’t know about you, but I’ve never heard of two men killed while travelling because they were travelling alone and asking for it – also, they weren’t alone, there were two of them, and I think travelling the world even alone as a women is a right since the world belongs to everyone – with that said, our project is called “women on the road”.
where does it come from: it actually starts from a meeting I had with francesca marone, who is a professor at the federico II university and holds this workshop “women in gender and education”; we met and we clicked, we liked each other and at some point we said “we want to work together” and we thought of this project –
what have we done: we put together a group of women, young women, students from the “education to the image” workshop held by professor marone, and a group of my students from the painting workshop and the performative techniques one; we thought that they could maybe work together and research, therefore exchange some things – they met some women from other countries who settled down in naples or close, who are examples of integration. they had these meetings, they exchanged some things, some groups more than others, and they made tales of words, of photographs they took of each other; there was then a re-elaboration of the images in the workshop, and to do so we brought in the “university women” and we convinced everyone – professor marone included, there are pictures that show so – of the sense of this project: clearly the attempt of establish different connections, between me and francesca, between the young women who participated, connections with the women who settled here, and also connections between the academy world and the university one, between image and word, between the immigrant women and the resident ones and the women of naples –
what matters to me here is to say that quality of each and every one of these connections is absolutely identical, we tried to remove whatever fashion or folkloristic suspect there could be: the relationship me and francesca have has the same value of the relationship the girls have with each other and of the ones we had with the women we met: obviously there was a special interest towards the women of other cultures, but also some more difficulties in terms of communication, but the reason that pushed us all is exactly the same –
I am the same when my feet touch the ground in the morning, when I phone my friend, when I get the tube, when I go to the shop and then come here and talk to you –
this is what we intended to do and what we proposed to our institutions (of which we spoke previously), and when the centrality and our desire of being together somehow welcome this diversity, this variety of connections stay absolutely illuminated –
therefore, the intertwining of connections is a women’s political practice: we’ve always believed that these are the only ways possible to bring a change and surely to bring some happiness in our life or our lives –
at this point, before proceeding giving thanks, I’d like every woman on the road to say her name and where she is from so to reinforce her presence here today and to make her face known to you -
